Hannah Espia-Farbova is a Filipino film and TV director based in Central Europe. Hailed as an “impressive debut” by Variety, her 2013 debut feature “Transit” premiered at the Busan International Film Festival to critical acclaim and was the Philippines’ entry to the Best Foreign Language Feature at the 86th Academy Awards®. In 2018, Transit screened at the MoMA as part of the film series “A New Golden Age: Contemporary Philippine Cinema” and was ranked 11 out of 100 Best Filipino Films directed by Women in a poll by Filipino critics. She was featured on Remezcla Magazine’s “Ten Filipino Directors You Should Know” and Kore Magazine’s “The New Hollywood” issue named her as one of five Visionary Asian Female Filmmakers. In 2020, she directed multiple episodes of “Almost Paradise,” the first American television series to be shot entirely in the Philippines.


She is a Fulbright Scholar, as well as an alumnus of Berlinale Talents, Talents Tokyo, Pop-Up Film Residency, and a recipient of the Asian Cinema Fund and the Next Masters Tokyo Project Development Fund.
